Happy Saturday!

Well hello lovelies! I hope your Saturday is as beautiful as mine. Here in SC it is sunny and warm but not so warm that you can't breathe (which is where our weather will be in about a week). Since Dt has left me at home to go to the spring game in this beautiful place

I'll have to find ways to entertain myself. Why am I not in God's country with him you ask? Oh because it's a "boys only" orange and white game. Which means I'm being punished for having a vagina. Jerks. But I digress.

I will be spending my day enjoying the weather before it becomes unbearable by soaking up some sun on my porch

A good read, my sunnies, and some DC. Hopefully Aveeno will prevent me from getting the sunburn I got last week when I enjoyed the sun... oops. Here's to prevention!

Then my evening will consist of a handful of girly movies that Dt would never watch with me, touching up my mani, and maybe a skinny girl marg. Or two.

Orrrrr, I get my rear in gear and go out to get crazy with this crazy betch.

Either option sounds good to me so we will see.

You may or may not notice that my pics look a little different today. That's because instagram has finally come to us losers without iPhones (which was by choice thank you very much!) so now you should allow find me so I can find you. My username is Emilyknap and I'm still learning so bear with me.

Enjoy your Saturday and since my boys will be on the field today, I can officially say Go Tigers!

It's a love story...

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Since I loved doing my first link up so much, I decided to do another one! This is one that I've seen floating around the blogs lately and I think it's perfect for Valentine's Day as well as telling you a little more about Dt and my love story.

Thanks to Becky for creating this link up!
1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
When people ask us this question, our answer is 6 years. We started dating my freshman year of college but we did have a 6 month break in there around my sophomore year. We believe that that break is the reason we are where we are today (which is sooooo in love!) and while it was painful at the time, it happened for a reason and I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. So, 6 years in total!

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
Are you ready for this nerdy story? I don't think you are. Dt and I met in biology lab at Clemson University. Yes, we were lab partners. Ahhh, it was love at first sight when I saw him in those snazzy lab goggles. Ha, not! When we were first paired together, I noticed he was cute but didn't think much about it after that. But as the weeks went on, we realized we had a similar sense of humor and started flirting and it went from there. He started walking me to my dorm after class and finally got up the nerve to ask me out on a date. For lunch. Via AIM. That's AOL instant messenger for all of you who don't know. It was a really low key, lunch date but I had so much fun and we laughed the whole time. A lot of our "dates" consisted of parties at his off-campus apartment (he was an upper-classmen, swoon) but we were young and in college so where else were we supposed to hang out? We were college sweethearts, and while we had some bumps along the way, 6 years later we're still going strong.

The first picture we every took via my pink razr phone.
3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
Despite our 6 years of dating, no, we are not married. But I know I will marry him, just not entirely sure when. First of all, we're only in our mid-twenties. We are not that old despite what people here in the south think. I know we've been dating for a long time but that's just because I was lucky enough to find the love of my life at a young age. We are also broke college students (technically, I graduated 6 months ago, but I'm still broke and he's trying to finish his Ph.D. then hoping to go to med school) so financially it's not an option right now. But one day...
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
Even though we are not engaged, and probably aren't going to be for some time, we totally know what we are going to do for our wedding. It may sound crazy to some people to start planning your wedding before you're engaged, and there are lots of delusional girls out there who do this, but I don't fall in that category (I hope!) The difference is that Dt talks about our wedding and what we'll do and where we'll be. I think that's the thin line between delusional and relatively sane. If your bf is excited for your future wedding and is willing to plan it with you, he's serious about marrying you one day. At least in MHO.
So, to answer the question, Dt and I want to get married at my family's house on the St. Lawrence River.

This is my favorite view from our house, right on the front porch.
It's actually where my parents got married and my family has vacationed there every year since I was born and my father's family has been doing it since long before that. This is my favorite place on earth and it means so much to me. I'm so lucky to have found a person who loves it as much as me and understands the beauty of this place. Growing up, I never imagined getting married here but after Dt had visited a few times, he thought we should, so this is where it will be. It means a lot to me that it was actually Dt's idea too. It will be a small wedding with immediate family and the wedding party but we will have a huuuuge party when we get back in SC for everyone that couldn't travel to upstate NY for the wedding. Kind of like a destination wedding? Whatever, that's our plan!

Here are some sunset pictures.
My wedding pics are going to be fab haha!
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
We are really weird and have some strange nicknames for each other... we are also one of those gross couples that uses the nickname babe. Dt calls me babe 95% of the time. If he says Emily, it's weird and I feel like I'm in trouble haha. He also calls me monkey. I call him honey, baby, love bug, really sappy things like that.
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
My favorite thing about Dt is his sense of humor. He makes me laugh like no one else and we have fun doing absolutely nothing because we are constantly joking with each other. I also love that he thinks I'm funny and gets my weird sense of humor.
I love how smart Dt is. And he has no idea! He's getting a Ph.D. in molecular biology so he has some idea but he doesn't know the extent. He's so creative and thinks outside of the box which is pretty unique but the best thing is that he doesn't act like he's the smartest guy in the room. Talking to him, you would never know that he does breast cancer research all day long because he prefers to talk about football and movies and manly things. He's the ultimate combo of a guy's guy and an intellectual.
Finally, I love how caring, patient and kind he is (and yes, this counts as one). He constantly puts up with my craziness in the calmest way imaginable which blows my mind daily. No matter what I throw at him, he handles it and still loves me at the end of the day. Goodness I love that boy!
7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
Well, he has not proposed so I can only imagine what I want... I've told him multiple times that I want to be dressed up with my nails done and some one to take pictures of it. I don't want to look like a hot mess in the pictures of us on our night of our engagement so I need to be tricked into getting dressed up. I want my nails to look nice for the initial ring photos, you know you'll take them! And lastly, I would like our proposal documented. I think those pictures are so sweet and fun to have in the future. In the end, as long as he puts some thought into it and it's sentimental, I don't really care (but shhh, don't tell him). I just want it to be special even if I'm not ready for pictures when it happens. I also know I don't want him to do it on the jumbotron at Death Valley like he jokes about. I'd die.
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberrieschampagne, and rose petals?
If I were to choose one, I'd say the strawberries/champagne guy. He made me chocolate covered strawberries and dinner last year and he always does something romantic. He puts thought into it which is nice.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
This is a hard one. I would love to have a sunset dinner on the beach for an occasion or two but I could live without. I couldn't live without our movie/cuddling time though. We are kind of homebodies these days, we don't go out to bars as much anymore and movies and the couch are an ideal Friday night. As long as we are together, we're happy!
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
This is another hard one... I want to get married to him, I want to have babies with him, and I want to live the rest of our lives together! But if I could go anywhere? I'd love to go to Bora Bora. This is my ideal honeymoon but I don't know if we'll be able to afford it right after our wedding so it might have to be put off.

I would also like to travel with Dt to the places that I visited when I studied abroad. Being in the city of love without him was a little depressing so I would love to re-visit Paris, London, and Florence with him.
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
Usually, we do big, expensive dinners on valentine's day and our anniversary. In Clemson, we went to the same restaurant every year, Calhoun Corners, and I loved it! These days we have to find other options but it's usually something like High Cotton or Ruth's Chris. This year though, we are taking it easy and he's making dinner for me (which is unusual unless it involves grilling) which will be special.
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I didn't know people asked for things on Valentine's or I would have asked! (I keed, I keed). I don't expect much but I always like a box of chocolates, flowers, and a card. Keep it simple but make it special ;)
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
I think it's important to remember to be friends as well as lovers. If you can enjoy hanging out with each other while grocery shopping or exercising or the basic, non-romantic, everyday things, then you'll be able to enjoy the keep your relationship going. I also think romance should definitely be a part of every relationship but you need to love each other, and show it, every other day of the year that's not Valentine's day too.
14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.

So this is obviously not Dt and me but to me, this is love. I think a forehead kiss is so much more than just a regular kiss. I think it shows caring, protection, and love. I also think the girl look so comfortable, carefree, and perfect. This is love.

And come on, who is more in love than these two kids?

Happy Valentine's Day! Go link up! And you can leave a comment here if you do it so I can read your love story!

Weekend recap

I know we are closer to the upcoming weekend than we are to last weekend but I'm sure you are wondering what Dt and I did with his 14 year old  brother. On Thursday, we went to Newberry to meet Dt's parents for dinner and pick his brother up. We ate at an italian restaurant that is a small chain that they love but I usually hate. This time around, I tried a greek calzone (which was called a delight or something completely useless like that) and it was way weird but kinda good at the same time. It had lamb, peppers, onions and feta in it (like a gyro, yum!) but then was turned into a calzone and covered with cheddar cheese and pizza sauce. Ok, that was weird. Separately, they would have worked so I just kinda took it apart and ate it like a calzone and a gyro rather than a calzone gyro. But it's the best thing that I have found there so far so that's an improvement.

= WTF?

But I digress... So we picked the munchkin up and drove the 45 minutes home where we suggested buying him ice cream. He said no. What 14 year old kid doesn't want free ice cream?!?! Well, Dt and I wanted ice cream so we were going to get some and the wet blanket in the back seat was coming whether he liked it or not. So we introduced him to Rita's Ice Custard Happiness.

via
Have you heard of Rita's? First of all, it's called ice custard happiness. That's it's name! Doesn't it make you want to eat some happiness? Well it should. It's delicious frozen custard or ice, both of which you can get separate but are amazing together. The custard comes in fat-free options and the ice has sugar-free options so it is even diet friendly! It is quite a treat and the combos are endless. If you have one of these around you and have never tried it, GO! Dt and I wasted 4 years in Clemson without trying this and those are four years of ice custard happiness that we will never get back. Don't make our mistake.

Ok, Rita's rant done. By the time we got home (and forced the kid to eat ice cream, weirdo) luckily it was time for bed. The boys woke up early to head to Dt's lab where his brother would follow him around all day while I headed to a job interview. The boys came home around 2 which is early for Dt but I'm assuming following him around lab was boring (my theory was later confirmed. Dt is a smart, nerd who does breast cancer research. Sounds fun but it actually boring. But he's helping the world!) They then proceeded to play video games until 7 while I watched trashy tv in the bedroom and read on the porch. So it turns out we didn't have to find a movie to take him to or put our feet into nasty bowling shoes in order to entertain him. Who knew a 14 year old boy just wanted to play video games with his big brother?!? Works for me! We decided to head to Red Robin for dinner which was delicious as always (their burgers are fab but you should also check out the bruschetta chicken sandwich, just sayin'.)

Saturday my little brother, Tucker, was playing in a pre-season lacrosse tournament in Clemson and since Dt and I love all things Clemson, I love watching my brother ball out, and Dt's little brother has probably never heard of lacrosse, we decided to head up there to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed it because my little brother is a beast! Yes, I'm bragging because he is my little brother (who is bigger than me...) but he is also an awesome athlete. He probably scored 15 goals in two thirty minute scrimmages. Not even exaggerating. Granted, the teams they were playing kinda sucked but him and his best friend just killed them! Tuck is a senior so this is his last season and it should be his best so far, very exciting! When Dt and I have babies, they are going to have two very athletic uncles to look up to!

That's Tuck on the far left and his best friend/partner in crime on the far right. They make a dangerous attack team on the field.

After the tournament the boys and I went to Mac's diner for lunch. If you're not familiar with Clemson then you haven't heard of this hole in the wall diner but if you are, you know this is a Clemson landmark. It's also where Dt and I went on our first date 6 years ago. Awww, sentimental! While the food is not great, it's about the atmosphere and it's tradition. We love it!
via
When we were done, Dt's mom met us right outside of Clemson and picked the kiddo up and our weekend of babysitting was over. Relatively painless but also pretty boring. It turns out that Dt's little brother is nothing like him. He's very quiet, doesn't have a lot of opinions, and may or may not be terrified of people with breasts. Oh, 14 year olds, aren't they awkward?

The rest of the weekend was pretty calm. I cooked all sorts of stuff for the super bowl and we cheered on the G-men. We were obviously happy with the outcome but pretty disappointed with the commercials. My two favorites were

My two favorite commercials both involved dogs? Coincidence? I think not. I'm obviously in need of a puppy...

Sorry for the long post. Keep a look out for my super bowl recipes as well as my big announcement!

Still proud to be a tiger!

You may have heard, my tigers lost on Wednesday. Lost may not be the best word to describe what happened in that game... we were obliterated. I think it was a record breaking high score for a bowl game and not because of Clemson. It was a very sad night for the tigers.

Very fitting.
As hard as it was for me to watch my team self-destruct, it was even harder for me to deal with the aftermath. Unfortunately, since it was such a huge loss and a national bowl game, the whole country witnessed our implosion. Including all of those super classy gamecocks that I'm surrounded by. It was hard to see all of the horrible comments about my team on facebook and every where else (especially since I'm not sure how this game even affected the gamecocks but that's another rant for another time). People seem to expect us to be embarrassed for being tigers or think that we will give up on our team after that horrible loss. What people don't seem to realize is that Clemson is soooo much more than our football program. Yes, that is a huge part of Clemson but it will never make or break our school spirit.

To me, Clemson is...

my alma mater
a top 25 public university in the country
solid orange
where the tigers play
where I received my top of the line education
where I grew into the person that I am today
Tiger Town Tavern on a friday night
Bid day on bowman field
where I met the love of my life
about pride
searching for the perfect shade of orange all year round
waking up at 6 a.m. to tailgate for a noon game
first friday
running down the hill
homecoming floats on bowman field
Mac's diner
the cadence count
tiger paws
home to clemson blue cheese and ice cream
sundresses and bowties on gameday
purple and orange sunsets over Lake Hartwell
Howard's rock
in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains
listening to the bells in Tillman on your way to class
home to the band that shakes the southland
the botanical gardens in the spring
home to Death Valley
tailgating in the fraternity quad
a feeling that you can't explain to an outsider
traditions
a family

All of these things make up Clemson. Many relate to football but have absolutely nothing to do with winning or losing. That is why I proudly wear my orange and purple in a town full of garnet and I will do so until the day I die. Go Tigers!

It's Gameday in Miami!!!

Well it all comes down to this. We've won our ACC championship title, won a bid to a national BCS bowl, and tonight we will play our last game of the season. And win!

That's our coach, Dabo. You know how I feel about him!
So all week Clemson Tigers have been funneling into Miami. Miami has probably never seen so much orange or so many $2 bills. Now, the $2 bills are a tradition that have long been in place but that many people are actually unaware of. This traditions started way back in 1977 when GA Tech wanted to change our schedule in Atlanta. In order to show them what a dumb idea that was, tigers decided to spend 2 dollar bills stamped with tiger paws throughout Atlanta on game weekend so they could see how important our game was to Atlanta's economy. Ever since, it has become a tradition to spend these bills at any away game, especially bowl games (and we still play GA Tech every year). Also, upon graduating from the great university that is Clemson, every student is given two $2. One to donate back to Clemson to begin the strong tradition of giving back to a school that we love, and one to spend out in the world as we choose. I know I have a $2 bill somewhere with a tiger paw on it and after this week, many lucky miamians will too.

Dt and I will be cheering our boys on from the couch tonight. I'm making some wings (last chance for tailgate food until the superbowl) which I'm a little weary about but I'll let you know how they turn out. Do me a favor and cheer on the Tigers if you have nothing else to do tonight.

Let's go Tigers, fight like hell damnit, and win!!!!!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Can y'all believe tomorrow is Christmas! Crazy! This month just flew by didn't it? Since this will probably be my last post for about a week because I'm heading to Philly to see my Grandmom after Christmas, I figured I'd leave you with a few pictures of the things that I've been up to this month and the last few days.

As I've said recently, I got an ice cream maker for Christmas (thanks to Dt sorta...) and have been experimenting with it so I thought I'd show you what I was working with!

I love it and it comes with two bowls so we don't have to wait to refreeze the main one!

I also bought some of these ingredients to make some of our first flavors

And yes, I bought a basting brush and that has nothing to do with my ice cream but it was part of the purchase so I thought it was rude to leave it out!
I ended up using the vanilla starter, then mixed in two spoonfuls of the fudge and a couple shakes of the snow and it turned out great! It def gives Baskin Robbins' peppermint ice cream a run for its money. I also made just plain vanilla for Dt out of sugar, milk, cream, and vanilla and it turned out pretty good too. Overall, this gift was a success!

Another exciting thing that has happened this past week is that I got this lovely box in the mail!

I haven't had the chance to try any of the things yet but I'll do a review once I do!

And remember my post about the sugar scrubs I made and decorated for Dt's fam? Well this is how they turned out!

Sorry about the crappy pic, I'm not a photographer...
Pretty cute, eh? I think I made that ugly jar much better! I found the recipe on pinterest and you can find it here!

As I've been shopping for Christmas gifts over the last few days, I've also been picking up stocking stuffers for my brother and sister. Over the last few years, we've started helping my parents (or Santa) stuff our stockings and I really enjoy it because I love finding these fun little things. It also gives me the ability to give more gifts which you know I love. So this is what I've found for Tucker

Clockwise from  top left: I got him a small stuff sack which he can carry in his big bag but packs down so it's easy to carry. Then we got him this fire starter gel which will allow him to start a fire anywhere even if it's been raining. Hopefully he practices fire safety... The next thing is a really cool patagonia belt which is his actual present but accidentally fell into the stocking stuffer pic. Oh well! Then I got him a free sticker from the store where all this gear came from. Next are just some eating utensils, figured the boy could practice some manners out in the woods. Then we have some body warmers and last but definitely not least is a first aid kit, just in case!
I think he is really going to enjoy all of this stuff and worst case scenario, at least he'll be better prepared for his trips into the mountains!

Next we have Miss Amelia Bedelia and her stocking stuffers

We have a hot pink lint roller, you always need one when you don't have one! Some multi colored bobby pins, a chocolate sampler (I also got one for Tucker), two mini candles, a cupcake corer (may or may not have gotten one for me, I tried to be strong...), a new make up brush (you can never have enough), and finally a really cool eye shadow palette from e.l.f. I'm sort of hoping she doesn't want that one because I will totally take it from her!
So I think I found some fun goodies to stuff their stockings with and those kids better return the favor!

And last but not least, I gave Dt his final Christmas present (he still didn't make it until the actual day to open it...) You may or may not remember that our Tigers recently won the ACC championship and I was lucky enough to find a boy who is as obnoxiously obsessed with Clemson as I am so of course I had to buy the kid a t-shirt to document the event.

It says Another clemson championship. 14 times! How many y'all got?
I thought it was pretty funny and a smidge obnoxious but hey, we have to represent in gamecock country. As you can see, he was pretty excited about it too...

Isn't he cute? SO excited!
So that's my recap and I hope it will keep you entertained until I get back in a week or so. Have a merry Christmas everybody!

ACC Champs Baby!

First and foremost, I would like to announce that my Clemson Tigers are the Atlantic Coast Conference Champions! Wooooooo! I’m so proud of our team for pulling through when we needed it and I am glad we are able to bring this championship back home for the first time in 20 years. This also means we are taking our talents to Miami for the Orange Bowl.

Way to go boys!

I should also mention that one aspect of my football team that I just can’t get enough of is our coach, Dabo Swinney. I love this man (and dt is fully aware of his competition). I love that he loves his team, our university, and everything that is Clemson. He has gotten a lot of flack over the last week because of some comments that he made about our school when he was asked to respond to something that idiot Spurrier said (which they are now denying, but let’s be real, he’s an ass!). Dabo may have said a little more than was necessary but he didn’t say anything that wasn’t true and he made many Clemson alumni proud to have him as our coach.

(Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images)

I’m also glad that we have a little break between now and the bowl games to give some teams the time to cool down. Over the last two weeks I have heard more insults and smack talking about my team than I care to. I happen to live in Columbia, which is 99% gamecock country. So I’m used to being surrounded by these fans and I enjoy talking smack as much as the next person. I will defend Clemson until the day I die but I believe in representing our school in the classiest way possible. The problem is that a lot of people forget that when we are insulting other teams, we are representing our team in a negative way. I’ll admit, sometimes I throw a low blow or two towards a gamecock, but it’s never out of the blue and it’s never to someone who is being respectful to me. One thing that I have learned over the last few weeks is that while smack talking is fun and adds to the beauty of college football (or any sport for that matter, this is just the main one that I follow), you have to be aware of who you are engaging in this entertaining pastime with. Some (maybe most) people can dish it out all day but can’t take it for one minute. And that is their problem but, as I found out, you need to be able to walk away from these hypocrites because it will only get you into trouble. Hopefully, facebook and twitter will calm down over the next couple of weeks so I can refrain from de-friending people I actually like during the other 8 months of the year.

Rant finished. Oh, and Go Tigers!

Love, Em

Meet the Besties

Now that you’ve met dt and the fam, I think it is only appropriate that you meet my besties. I was lucky enough to go to college, join a sorority (woo AXO!), and as cliché as it sounds, find my bridesmaids. I was able to meet a handful of girls who I know I will always have a connection with, no matter how far away we live from each other and how long it has been since we’ve talked. So let me introduce the girls  (in no specific order) who have gotten me through the last 6 years of life.

First of all, there is Kyra (or kyra beera as I like to call her…) I was forced to hang out with this crazy chick my freshman year when my “big sister” in my sorority asked me to give Kyra a ride to initiation. My “big” and Kyra’s “big” were best friends so they thought we should be best friends. We weren’t so sure about that. But we ended up riding to initiation together and then going to one of our first sorority date functions together (not as each other’s dates but more like sidekicks while dragging our dates along) and that night in the middle of Pumpkintown, SC, a wild and crazy friendship was born. Our sophomore year we decided to live together on our sorority hall and the shenanigans that ensued will not be repeated on this blog but lets just say we had a hell of a lot of fun. We didn’t live together junior year but we had apartments next to each other senior year and we were notoriously inseparable. I also credit her with my obnoxious use of abbreviations. We’ve been fortunate enough to find boyfriends who understand that our relationship with each other is weird and unique and that there really is such a thing as the Emily and Kyra Hurricane so bless their hearts for putting up with the two of us together. I have very few memories of college without this girl in them and while our long distance friendship sucks, I know that our relationship will never change. Kyra is the female counterpart of my soulmate and I don’t know what I would do without her!

One of the first nights we ever hung out

Some theme party, but unfortunately I couldn’t tell you what the theme was…

80’s party or normal Friday night? You decide

80s party! Where we're clearly not paying attention...

Now, the next bestie you should be aware of is Steph (or Stephy). This wonderful lady came into my life my sophomore year on bid day. Another sister was actually supposed to be in charge of this new AXO baby but she pawned her off on me to go do something else. Big mistake woman!!! It may not have been love at first sight (who wants another little of the week when you are already assigned one? Not this underachieving AXO). But the second she opened that sarcastic, hilarious mouth of hers, I knew this girl and I would be more than just sorority sisters. Over the next four weeks as I got new “temporary littles” I knew that I had already picked mine out. Unfortunately for Steph, I found it thoroughly entertaining to mess with her and tell her I wasn’t her big all the way up to when she had to follow 2 miles of string to discover that I was her official “big sister.” From that day on, I had my sidekick! We went to all of our functions together, Kyra was her pseudo-big just because they were both forced to hang out with me on a daily basis. She also has been subjected to multiple thanksgivings with my family and I will always love her for fitting in so perfectly with my family (who miss you like crazy and expect you to be at our next Thanksgiving but Mama G says she hopes you’re doing well…) Since Steph was a year younger than me we only had 3 wonderful years at college together and now she lives about 4 hours away (sadsies) but I still consider her one of my best friends and miss her like crazy!

The three of us were never far apart

This is us with Babs, Steph's little and my grandlittle. Cute fam, huh!

The next influential girl in my life is Miss Mary Todd. I’ve known her for 6 years, and it’s never been Mary, always Mary Todd and that’s just the way it is! Now, fate was definitely working when the two of us some how found each other. While Mary Todd is also an AXO, she was not one at Clemson with Steph, Kyra, and me so we did not meet through our sorority. We met through Dt and his sophomore roommate. Mary Todd was dating dt’s roommate, Todd (yes Mary Todd and Todd were a couple) who just so happened to have the same last name as me (which is really weird if you knew our last name but since I don’t want people stalking me, you don’t). Mary Todd and Todd were in a long distance relationship so I didn’t really know her our freshman year very well but as those weekends that we both lived at our bf’s apartment went on, we became closer and closer and eventually formed a bond that can never be broken. Our relationship has outlasted good ole’ Todd and a few others which is really where our relationship grew. See, Mary Todd was the one who was there for me when Dt and I went through our rough patches (and there were a few…) and I like to believe that I was there for her when she went through some of her own. I remember one Valentine’s Day when we were each other’s dates because boys sucked and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I love her for always being there through my relationship drama (as well as any other drama I may throw on her) and being my sounding board for dumb ideas (such as this blog), hard questions that no one else will give me an honest answer on, and always calling me on my BS.  Mary Todd, I don’t know what I would do without you and our gchat convos  (which we rely on because the crazy bitch went and moved to Alabama which is much too far away).

Alpha Budlight Omega Anyone?

This isn’t a very good pic but it’s proof that dt loves mary todd almost as much as I do

This is Mary Todd with one of my best girlfriends from grad school, Jennie!

Kyra and Mary Todd, gotta love 'em!

And they've gotta love me!

So those are some of the important people in my life, hope you enjoyed getting to know them and a look at our lives together.

Love, Em
